What is Ultrasound Guided Foam Sclerotherapy?
If the varicose veins are larger, ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy is a good treatment. The liquid that is injected into the veins is foamed in advance. The thicker foam works better on the vessel wall. By making an ultrasound during the treatment, the phlebologist or vascular surgeon checks whether the foam is exactly in the right place. This treatment involves flattening with a stocking. The stocking stays on for 2 to 7 days, depending on the size of the injected veins.
Reimbursement foam sclerotherapy
A referral letter for the first consultation, including vascular examination (duplex), is required in connection with the reimbursement thereof. Without a referral letter, these costs are for your own account.
After the vascular examination, it is known whether it concerns a medical or cosmetic treatment. If it concerns a cosmetic treatment, you must pay for the treatment yourself. This also applies to the stockings. If it concerns medical treatment, the costs will be submitted to your insurer.
