Treating varicose veins with sclerocompression

In sclerocompression therapy, fluid is injected into a few places in the varicose vein. Veins are then flattened (compression) by putting a cotton ball and tight stocking around them. The injected fluid causes the walls of the veins to stick together and shrivel in a few weeks. The blood then flows through other veins. Most people do not experience this treatment as painful and numbing is therefore not necessary. Usually one leg at a time is treated.

Reimbursement of sclerocompression therapy

A referral letter for the first consultation, including vascular examination (duplex), is required in connection with the reimbursement thereof. Without a referral letter, these costs are for your own account.
After the vascular examination, it is known whether it concerns a medical or cosmetic treatment. If it concerns a cosmetic treatment, you must pay for the treatment yourself. This also applies to the stockings. If it concerns medical treatment, the costs will be submitted to your insurer.
