Every intervention has three phases in the treatment process: the consultation, the operation and the aftercare. On this page we will tell you more about the operation. Are you still missing information? Don't worry, when your operation is planned you will receive all the information from us.
How does a nose job proceed?
The operation will be planned in consultation with you. On the day of the operation, you must fast. You may report to the reception desk of the operating room. You will then be accompanied by a nurse to the correct room.
The doctor will mark your nose and ask you a few final questions. In general, a nose job is performed under general anesthesia. When you are ready, the anesthesia is administered and the surgery begins.
The nose correction is Open or Closed performed, the doctor will discuss this with you in advance during the first consultation. With an open nose correction, small incisions are made that are hardly noticeable afterwards and with a closed operation you will not get any scars on the outside of the nose.
It is important to remember that no two nose corrections are the same. The duration of the operation can therefore vary greatly. The aim of the operation is to optimise the aesthetics of the nose and to bring it into balance with the rest of the face. The initial situation, ethnic background, skin type and age play an important role in this. Sometimes a simple procedure is sufficient to make the tip of the nose or the wings of the nose narrower. Sometimes a complicated operation is required on the bridge of the nose or the entire nose. The duration of the operation depends on the extent of the procedure and is discussed in advance. So after the consultation you will know exactly what to expect from the operation.
If necessary, you will receive wound tampons in both nostrils after the operation.
After the surgery
After the operation, you will calm down in the recovery room. A few hours after the operation, you may leave our operating room under supervision. You may not drive yourself.
In general, nose surgery causes little after-pain. Paracetamol is usually used for mild pain.
sufficient. After the operation we will schedule the check-up appointments with you for the removal of the
nasal packing (usually after 1 day), removal of the external nasal dressing and stitches
(usually after 1 week). After this, you will get a plaster bandage on your nose. You can remove this yourself after a
number of days. You will then have a number of periodic check-ups to monitor the healing process.

Things to consider
Is your operation planned or are you still orienting yourself? Then the following matters may be useful to know.
- It is advisable to be in good physical condition before the operation. The fitter you are, the faster your recovery will be.
- Before you are operated on, your surgeon must be aware of any previous operations and any allergies. So make sure you have information about this. The surgeon will ask you about this during the consultation.
- If you are taking medication, you may need to stop taking it before the operation. Of course, this will only be done in consultation with the surgeon and you do not have to decide this yourself. Stopping medication applies in particular to medications that inhibit blood clotting, such as Aspirin, Sintrom and Marcoumar.
- If you smoke, you must stop three weeks before the operation. Smoking negatively affects the healing process and is therefore discouraged at all times.
- A nose correction is performed as day treatment. You are not allowed to go home unaccompanied on the day of the operation. So make sure someone can pick you up.
