With liposuction we simply remove the accumulated fat in these places. The accumulation of the fat is caused by an increased number of fat cells in these places. An important condition for liposuction is that the skin is sufficiently elastic.

The treatment
Step 1: mark the treatment area
Before the treatment, we take photos for your medical file, you are weighed and we determine your body measurements. During the first consultation, you have determined the treatment zones together with your treating physician, and these are now carefully marked. The plastic surgeon also marks the places where the incisions are made for the small suction needles.
Step 2: administer anesthetic
We numb these treatment areas with injections. As soon as this anesthetic is sufficiently effective, we make the cuts. We inject the tumescent anesthetic fluid with a fine needle. This fluid constricts the blood vessels, minimizing bleeding during the procedure. It also enhances the effects of the local anesthetic. As a result, you will hardly notice the operation.
Step 3: suck out the fat
After the exposure time of 20 minutes, the plastic surgeon aspirates the fat cells using a fine suction needle. The doctor feels the skin during suction. This way he can determine whether enough fat has been removed. The needles are connected to a vacuum pump that sucks out the grease. The treatment is painless, but you may feel pressure in the treatment area. The duration of the treatment depends on the number of treatment zones. In most cases, the procedure takes between 1 and 2.5 hours.
Recovery and aftercare
After the treatment, we cover the small incisions with plasters. In most cases, the incisions are so small that suturing is not necessary. If this is necessary for you, we will remove the stitches after a week during the check-up.
You can go home on the day of the procedure. Please note that you are not allowed to drive yourself, so take someone with you to accompany you. You will experience little to no after-pain for the first few hours. This is due to the numbing effect of the tumescent fluid that continues to work for a few hours. You can then use a mild pain reliever such as paracetamol to suppress pain.
Recovery time
The treatment area is sensitive and can turn red and blue
You come to our clinic for a check-up and removal of the stitches
You can slowly pick up your (light) work again
You wear elastic pants or bandage to prevent swelling
4 weeks after surgery
