With lipofilling, body fat is removed by means of liposuction (often from the abdomen, hips or legs) and put back elsewhere in the body. This is done when someone wants to enhance the appearance (often for more volume in the breasts or face) but also when dents have formed after an injury or previous surgery.
By means of lipofilling, contours and volume are restored. The big advantage is that lipofilling uses the body's own fat. This makes the treatment safe and lipofilling is therefore also widely used in plastic surgery.
Together with your plastic surgeon discuss where the fat can best be removed. By introducing your own fat cells, the extra volume feels smooth and natural.

Types of lipofilling
We carry out the following types of lipofilling:
Lipofilling breasts
A procedure to add volume to your breasts or to bring back symmetry. This procedure is also often applied to add volume to and/or reshape breasts after breast implants have been permanently removed.
lip filling face
Adding volume to your chin, jawline, nose, lip and mouth creases, eyelids, cheeks, or lips.
Lippofilling buttocks
A procedure to tighten and enlarge your buttocks and, when required, hips with your own body fat.
The consultation
During the first consultation with the attending plastic surgeon you will discuss your wishes and assess whether they are feasible based on the technical options. You will also discuss the exact treatment method. You will be informed about the lipofilling procedure, the type of anaesthesia, the risks and complications, and get advice about the aftercare.
In order to get a good indication of your general health, the surgeon will ask you some questions about your medical history. We will also take photos for your medical file. This is the best way for you to assess the final result.
The surgery
Lipofilling is carried out under local or general anaesthesia. The type of anaesthesia depends on the size and location of the treatment area. After the anaesthesia has been given, we cover the surrounding area.
The surgeon injects a sedation fluid in the location where we will suck out the fat and then the fat is removed using a low suction power. The fat is collected in a closed filter system (pure graft). This ensures that unwanted elements such as sedation fluid, blood cells, and broken fat cells are removed, leaving only optimal fat that can be used for the lipofilling. This fat tissue is then transferred into smaller tubes with cannulas. Via these hollow needles, we can inject your own fat tissue in the location where you want to add volume. The first lipofilling procedure takes about 1.5 hours and is more or less painless.
The volume will shrink somewhat as your body will drain off the fluid. In total, around 50 to 70% of the volume remains.
Aftercare and recovery
After the operation you can leave the clinic under supervision. Make sure you are picked up as you are not allowed to drive. The treated area may be bluish, swollen and tender for a few days after the procedure. After two weeks, the swelling and tenderness will subside. After the operation you will wear special pressure clothing where the liposuction was performed.
After the operation, we are available 24/7 in case of emergency or urgent questions.

FAQ
Is lipofilling painful?
How long the result will be noticeable differs per person. It depends on the amount of fat tissue in your face, buttocks, or breasts that is not broken down again. Around 50 to 70% of the injected fat tissue will remain in the treated area.
How long will the result be noticeable?
It differs per person how long the result is visible. This depends on the amount of fatty tissue that remains in your face, buttocks or breasts. About 50 to 70% of the adipose tissue remains in the treated area.
Will I have any scars?
Special cannulas are used to inject your own body fat into your body. This has the advantage that there will be no large scars. The scars are usually smaller than 5 mm. Most of these scars will be more or less invisible after a year.
