Results chin correction
The ultimate result of the chin correction will only be visible after a month when the swelling has gone down completely.
Chin augmentation
To make your chin larger, we make a small incision under your chin. Via this location, we can then position the implant. When the implant is in the right place, the surgeon will close the wound with a special stitching technique which was developed to ensure minimum scarring. We then cover your chin with a plaster bandage.
Another option is to insert the implant via the inside of the mouth. With this method, the surgeon will make an incision at the level of the jaw, between the upper lip and lower teeth. An advantage of this method is that there will be no visible scars, but there is a bigger risk of infections.
Chin correction: the first consultation
During the first consultation with your plastic surgeon you will discuss everything that has to do with the chin correction. You discuss which method works for you, what result you can expect, what the possible risks are and everything about the best aftercare.
A chin correction permanently changes your facial profile. It is therefore important that you discuss your expectations of the result with the plastic surgeon prior to the procedure. He or she can determine whether the technical possibilities of the correction correspond to your expectations.
The surgeon will also check whether you are eligible for a chin correction. In some cases, a rhinoplasty gives a better result or it is better to undergo a neck liposculpture. Is a chin correction the best solution for you? Then you and the surgeon determine the size of the implant.
After the surgery
In the first week, the treatment area is blue and swollen. In most cases, the bruising will disappear quickly, but the swelling will still be visible for several weeks. Your chin is therefore about four weeks thicker than normal.

Frequently asked questions about chin corrections
Who is a candidate for a chin correction?
In principle, any man or woman who has a distinctive, visible defect of the chin can be a good candidate for a chin correction. This can also be the case when you are not happy with the profile of your chin.
What material is a chin prosthesis made of?
The chin implants we use are made of a silicone block. We use this material as it will not be rejected by the body.
When can I go back to work?
In most cases, you can go back to work after one or two weeks, unless you have to perform heavy physical activities. In that case, it may up to four weeks before you can resume your work.
