Treatment trajectory
The treatment process of a lower eyelid correction consists of three phases: the consultation, the operation and the recovery time. We will briefly tell you what you can expect in each phase.
The consultation
You book a no-obligation consultation with a doctor of your choice. During the first consultation, the plastic surgeon will ask about your wishes and complaints. During this intake, he or she will assess whether a lower eyelid correction is the right treatment for your wishes. The surgery
A lower eyelid correction is usually performed under general anesthesia (narcosis) and lasts on average 75 to 90 minutes. You will always see the doctor before the procedure, so you can ask any final questions. Before the procedure, the plastic surgeon will draw precisely what needs to be removed.
During the procedure, the plastic surgeon makes a subtle incision, just below the lash line or on the inside of the lower eyelid, depending on the technique that best suits your situation. Through this incision, excess fat, skin and sometimes muscle tissue is removed or moved to create a smoother and more youthful effect. The incisions are carefully closed with fine sutures, so that scars are as minimally visible as possible.

The recovery time
After a lower eyelid correction, you can go home the same day. Please note that you are not allowed to drive yourself, so make sure someone can pick you up.
During the first week, bruising and swelling may occur. On average, this lasts two to three weeks. During the first check-up appointment, stitches are removed. The lower eyelids then still have to recover. In the first weeks after the operation, the swelling decreases and the scars become less and less visible.
