An arm lift removes excess skin and fatty tissue from the underside of the arm
The skin of the upper arm can lose its elasticity due to weight loss or aging. Excess, sagging skin can develop, which unfortunately isn't reduced by exercise. An arm lift offers a solution. The advantage of an arm lift is that the skin is tightened; a disadvantage is that the procedure leaves a scar. The scar will be on the underside of the arm but will be visible. Over the first year after the surgery, the scar will gradually match the color of the skin.

1. Consult
During the no-obligation consultation, the plastic surgeon will discuss your wishes and determine whether you are a candidate for this procedure. You will also receive all the information about the procedure, from proper preparation to aftercare instructions. Finally, you will be informed about the surgical risks and potential complications. The consultation provides ample opportunity to address all your questions, wishes, and concerns.
2. Operation
You will be under general anesthesia during the surgery. The procedure involves removing the skin of your upper arm and, if present, any fatty tissue. The incision is made between your armpit and elbow, on the underside/inner side of your arm. Dissolvable sutures are used that do not need to be removed. Your arms will then be bandaged. The procedure takes about an hour. You can go home the same day after the procedure.
3. Aftercare
You will wear a bandage on your arms for one week. This bandage applies pressure to your arm to minimize swelling. After a week, you will return for a check-up, and the bandage will be removed. You may then resume light activities, as long as you don't overuse your arms. You may not engage in intensive sports, heavy lifting, or heavy work for six weeks. The scar should be kept under minimal pressure.

Scars after an arm lift
The scars that develop after the procedure may initially look a bit red and remain sensitive for a while. Over the course of a year, this redness will fade, they will regain the color of your skin, and they will become less visible. UV rays are harmful to scars, causing them to remain red for an unnecessarily long time. If you plan to sunbathe, apply a high SPF to the scar, but it's best to avoid the sun for the first three months.
