Although she was happy with her choice for years, she noticed that the prostheses no longer fit in with the phase of life she is currently in. New phase
Marga got breast implants 16 years ago, a choice she was very happy with at the time. “I was 35 and wanted more volume and symmetry in my breasts. The implants gave me that, and for years I was happy with the result,” she says.
Over time, Marga began to notice that her body was changing and with those changes, her breast implants felt less and less suitable. “After all those years, I felt that my breasts were no longer in line with my body. They no longer felt natural and did not give me the self-confidence that I had felt before. I started to think about another option. I did not want to opt for another procedure with implants, but I was looking for a solution that suited me better: a natural look, with something that was closer to myself. Lipofilling seemed suitable to me, because then I still retain the volume in a natural way.”

When Marga had decided to give her to have prostheses removed and have her breasts filled with her own fat tissue, she went looking for a clinic and a surgeon that suited her. She visited several clinics, but it was only with plastic surgeon dr. Moerman at Esthetisch Centrum Jan van Goyen. “The first conversation with Dr. Moerman was so pleasant. She took the time to listen to me, answer my questions and give me an honest picture of what to expect. Nothing was forced on me and that gave me a lot of confidence.”
Dr. Moerman confirmed that lipofilling was possible after the prosthesis removal. This technique uses fat from the body itself to restore volume to the breasts. “The idea that I would use my own fat appealed to me very much. In my case, this fat came mainly from my upper legs and hips. It felt much more natural than placing new prostheses. And I also liked the fact that I would not burden my body further with artificial materials.”
The operation and the recovery
The operation could be scheduled quite quickly and consisted of three parts: the removal of the prosthesis, liposuction to obtain fatty tissue and the injection of this fatty tissue into the breasts. Marga was certain that this was the right choice for her, but there were still some nerves. “Every operation is exciting of course. But it felt good that I had discussed with Dr. Moerman exactly what I wanted and what I could expect. She had explained it really well. Moreover, the nurses and assistants were all very sweet and caring. This made me feel a bit more relaxed.”
The surgery went without complications. Marga had some swelling and bruising, but that was normal. “The first few days weren’t great of course. I had some pain and discomfort, but it was all worth it. It was doable and the recovery went well. I soon noticed that my breasts felt soft. It was such a relief to be rid of that hard feeling of the prostheses. Plus, it all looked more natural.”
Subtle change after lipofilling
After a few weeks, Marga started to see the results. “The change in my breasts is very subtle and natural. They have hardly changed in size either, so nice! My breasts feel like my own again and no longer 'strange' as if they do not belong to my body. They fit my phase of life more. My 'new breasts' also look better in t-shirts. When I still had the prostheses, they were a little bit apart. I don't know how Dr. Moerman managed to do this, but they are now neatly next to each other.”

Marga especially appreciates that Dr. Moerman not only used her technique and experience, but that she treated her as an individual. “Dr. Moerman really has an eye for detail. She not only looks at the technical aspect of the operation, but also has an eye for the aesthetic result. She is an artist in her field. She knows exactly how to balance everything and where possible she removes fat, so that it not only feels good, but also looks beautiful.”

Now, a few months later, Marga is still very happy with her decision. “I used to be very aware of my prostheses, but that is no longer the case. My breasts feel good and comfortable now.
