Ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy

When the varicose veins are larger in size, ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy is a good treatment method. The fluid is first turned into a foam after which it is injected into the veins. The thicker foam works better on the varicose wall. By having an ultrasound during the treatment, the phlebologist or vascular surgeon checks whether the foam is administered at the right location. After this treatment, the vein is also flattened by wearing the compression stocking. The stocking must be worn for 2 to 7 days, depending on the size of the injected veins.
